The Asian American Studies Major/minor
At the heart of its program, IDAAS offers an array of classes each academic year that address Asian Pacific American issues and populations. The department's curriculum in the humanities and social sciences includes courses in the arts, economics, ethnic studies, history, literature, psychology, sociology, and a number of interdisciplinary areas of study. Students in the Claremont Colleges can take courses toward a minor at several of the campuses and can major in Asian American Studies through Pitzer College. In addition to course offerings, IDAAS contributes to the Claremont Colleges community through its sponsorship of speakers, films, student-sponsored events, conferences, visiting faculty, and other forms of programming. In keeping with the origins of the Asian American movement, IDAAS supports connections to communities beyond our campuses toward the goal of creating a more inclusive and just society.
